Eagles want to soar! Tigers hope to roar!

You gotta love it as we head into the second week of High School Football, and we have the First Rivalry Game of the season….Glenoak hosting Massillon!

Friday Night at Golden Eagle Stadium  will be the 10th Meeting between the Tigers and the Golden Eagles, and The One…The Only 1480 WHBC has broadcast every game of this rivalry!   Statistics….already tossed them out the window. Whatever fell on the floor went to the shredder. However, I did save one little nugget…..In 6 of the previous 9 meetings the games have been decided by 3 points or less.  In each of those battles the losing team failed to score in the 4th quarter.

The Tigers roll into town looking to push their record to 2 – 0.  Glenoak…a search for their identity in trying to even their record at 1 – 1.

Week 1 vs STV..…for all the banter and expectations of the Massillon Offense it was the defense and special teams that made a statement.  Glenoak…tough one against an excellent Toledo Whitmer. Golden Eagles were outscored 21 – 3 in the first half….and surrendered another 20 in the 3rd quarter.  Glenoak is YOUNG….as many as 8 sophomores will see significant playing time.  They have a chance to be special, but they will have to grow up in a hurry! The Tigers will put that to test.

So, buckle up for this collision!  Both Scott Garcia and Nate Moore know that game 1 is history, and the focus is Friday Night in Plain Township!  From my perspective in the booth….what can be better than a Week 2 Rivalry. Somebody will soar….somebody will roar!  See y’all On the Radio!
