Bengals Beat Browns, Watson Injuries Achilles, Could Be Out For The Year
(10-20-24)
The Browns lost their 5th game in a row Sunday 21–14 to the Bengals and also lost starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, possibly for the season, with a right achilles injury in the second quarter. He was replaced by Dorian Thompson-Robinson who was surprisingly named the back-up quarterback before the game.
Watson went down late in the 2nd quarter on a non-contact run and was carted off the field. He will have further testing done on that right achillies to determine the severity of the injury, but the Browns are preparing for the worst, that he will be lost for the year.
Cincinnati’s Charlie Jones got the Bengals off to a dynamic start when he returned the opening kick off 100 yards for a touchdown to give the Cincy a 7-0 lead.
Quarterback Joe Burrow would add 2 touchdown passes to secure the victory, his first ever in Cleveland.
Nick Chubb returned to the lineup for the first time since blowing out his knee last year in week 2 and scored 1 of the Browns 2 touchdowns and finished with 22 yards on 11 carries.
The other Browns score was courtesy of emergency quarterback, Jameis Winston, who replaced DTR because of a possible injury, and Winston threw a touchdown pass to tight end David Njoku with 1:27 left in the game.
The Browns failed to recover the ensuing on sidekick, and the Bengals ran out the clock.
With the loss, the Browns are tied for the worst record in the NFL at (1-6).
The Bengals improved to (3-4).
Next up for Cleveland, they’ll host the Baltimore Ravens Sunday at 1 PM.
