Dingler’s Dinger Helps Tigers Beat Guardians
The Cleveland Guardians saw their season come to an end in the decisive Game 3 of the American League Wild Card Series. Jackson High School’s own Dillon Dingler had a lot to do with it.
The former Polar Bear catcher and current Detroit Tiger threw out Jose Ramirez attempting to steal a base with the game tied 1-1 in the 4th inning. Then Dingler hit a solo, go ahead home run to put Detroit up 2-1 in the 6th. The Tigers would cruise from there and win the game 6-3. They advance to the ALDS against the Mariners.
For the Guardians, after losing in the ALCS last year they lose the wildcard round this year. That comes after an improbable comeback to win their 2nd straight Central Division Championship.
