Garrett Staying With Browns, Becomes Highest Paid Defensive Player
After publicly asking to be traded in early February because he wanted to play for a team that had a chance to win the Super Bowl and felt the Browns were not moving in that direction, defensive end Myles Garrett has changed his mind and agreed to a contract extension to stay with the Browns according to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Scott Petrak of BrownsZone.com.
Various media reports say the richest deal ever given to a defensive player, averages $40 million a year, with $123 million in guaranteed money and it will keep him with the Browns through the year 2030 and has a no trade clause.
The deal also makes Garrett the highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

The former number one overall pick by Cleveland in 2017 and the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, Garrett is 29 years old and is the Browns all-time leader in sacks with 102.5.
