Hapless Browns Embarrassed By Commanders 34-13
(10-6-24)
The Browns defense matched the Browns offense in playing a dysfunctionally, inept game in Sunday’s loss at Washington to the Commanders 34–13.
The Browns defense gave up 434 yards to rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Commanders offense, while Deshaun Watson and Cleveland’s offense only gained 212 total yards.
Daniels threw for 238 yards with a touchdown pass and also ran for 82 yards.
Watson could only muster 125 yards passing and just 14 yards rushing.
Washington converted on 8 of 17 third down opportunities, while the Browns went 1 for 13.
The Browns lone touchdown came in garbage time, trailing 34-6 with just over 7:00 to go in the game, when Deshaun Watson hit tight end Jordan Akins for 10 yards and the score.
Cleveland was penalized 9 times for 52 yards and Watson was sacked 7 times in the loss.
The Browns are now (1-4) on the year and tied for last place in the AFC North with the Cincinnati Bengals who lost in overtime Sunday to the Ravens 41–38.
Next up for Cleveland, a road game Sunday in Philadelphia at 1 PM.
