Last Team Standing

And then there is one….

After 5 weeks of football we have only one team remaining unbeaten and that is the Massillon Tigers at 5-0. The Tigers have won 16 regular season games dating back to 2017 when they finished the regular season beating McKinley 16-15.

Speaking of records, Aidan Longwell the left handed quarterback from Massillon set the career passing yards record for the Tigers passing Kyle Kempt’s 6,034. He passed that record last Friday and now has 6,056 passing yards. This record will grow with every completion he has the remainder of the year.

This Friday WHBC radio will air the McKinley-Lake game at Tom Benson HOF stadium. The game will feature the top two running backs in the county. McKinley’s Lameir Garrett and Lake’s Dreden Owens. Garrett leads the county with 872 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, Owens is at 812 yards and 9 touchdowns. This has the makings of a great game.

Kudos to my player of the week, it goes to McKinley’s Lameir Garrett. Against Hoover, Garrett rushed for 238 yards on 30 carries and 5 touchdowns.

See you at a game Friday night.
