LeBron Says No To Cavs, Picks 76ers

LeBron is not coming home for his 24th season in the NBA, as the future Hall of Famer selected Philadelphia over Cleveland, Golden State and Miami in free agency.

This will be the 5th different team for the 41 year-old James in his NBA career.

James played for the Cavs from 2003-2010 and then again 2014-18, and in that 2nd stop the St. Vincent-St. Mary grad led the Cavaliers to their only NBA Championship in 2016.

James opted out of his contract with the Lakers this summer to become a free agent.

James will be looking to win his 5th NBA Championship, having claimed 2 titles in Miami, 1 in Cleveland and 1 in L.A. for the Lakers.

In 60 games this past season for L.A.,  “The King”  averaged 20.9 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game and 7.2 assists per game.

On December 30th of 2026, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 43,440 points will turn 42 years-old.

James, who is signing a reported 2-year deal for $8 million dollars with the 76ers, joins former Cavs General Manager Mike Gansey who was hired by Philly this off season to be their President of Basketball Operations.
