Ohio State’s 2025 season came to an end at the hands of the Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl 24-14.

OSU spotted Miami a 14-0 lead at halftime and got to within 17–14 in the 4th quarter but could not complete the comeback.

So the Buckeyes end the season with consecutive losses to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship and Miami in the College Football Playoff.

Too many mistakes cost the Buckeyes in the first half, as quarterback Julian Sayin threw a costly “Pick 6” and kicker Jayden Fielding missed yet another field goal in a big game.

Ohio State’s only touchdowns came on a 1 yard run by Bo Jackson in the 3rd quarter and a 14 yard touchdown pass from Sayin to Jeremiah Smith in the 4th quarter.

Smith finished the game with 7 catches for 157 yards and the touchdown.

Sayin ended the contest 22 for 35 for 287 yards with the 1 td pass, but 2 interceptions and just like in the Indiana game, Sayin was sacked 5 times.

Ryan Day’s squad finishes the season 12-2.

The Buckeyes were trying to become the 1st team in school history to win back-to-back National Championships, but Miami put an end to that, and will play the winner of the Ole Miss and Georgia game in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
