Oh Hornets….where is thy sting?

Here we go down the homestretch….Week 8..and The One..The Only 1480 WHBC continues  our tour for our 75th Year of Broadcasting High School Football! This Friday Night we land at Foltz Stadium in East Canton as the Hornets will host the high flying Sandy Valley Cardinals!!

Safe to say that expectations were high for the Hornets coming into the 2019 Season.  Coming off an 8 – 4 season that went 2 weeks deep into the playoffs. An offense that was expected to put up points…and it has.  The problem has been their opponents have been putting up more. If there was concern coming into this season it was as talented as they were expected to be on offense…the defense was VERY young. 2018…yielded 13 pts per game….2019….27ppg.   In their 7 games East Canton has scored 43, 32, 27 and LOST.….they have also scored 36, 32, and as few as 7 and WON. However, this season has yet to produce back to back wins. This team has firepower and Nathaniel Suntheimer is a lot of it.  Over 450 Yards rushing the last two games and 5 TDS. The Hornets find themselves having to win out the final three weeks and hope for a ton of help. But hey….never say never.

The Cardinals have a record setting QB in Cameron Blair and an offense that puts up points in bunches.  In their 5 wins they have scored less than 40 points ONLY TWICE….a week 1 win over Fairless, and a Week 4 loss to Indian Valley.  They can create points in all phases…pass, run, special teams. They sit just outside the top 8 in their region to make the playoffs.  The focus is win out the remaining 3 weeks, and it begins with a heated battle vs East Canton.

Friday Night at Foltz Stadium will be electric with two incredibly talented teams, and a packed stadium.  From my perspective In the Booth…this game is a testament to why we have done this for 75 Years! Dial us up for the Sarchione Ford Game of the Week!  See y’all On the Radio!!
