Sanders Starts, Shines, Leads Browns To Victory
Making his NFL debut, rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders started and led the Browns to a 30-10 win over the Panthers in Carolina in preseason game number one.
The 2025 fifth round pick completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.
Sanders also rushed for 19 yards on 4 carries.
Both of Sanders touchdown passes went to wide receiver Kayden Davis.
He ended up playing 45 snaps and led 3 scoring drives for the Browns.

The reason Sanders started was because the Browns elected to sit projected number one quarterback, Joe Flacco, and both Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel were nursing hamstring injuries.
Tyler Huntley, who was with the Browns in the preseason last year, and was just signed on Monday, was the only other quarterback to play in the game for Cleveland and he threw a touchdown pass to Gage Larvadain.

With Sanders playing well against Carolina, it should make Kevin Stefanski’s quarterback competition even more interesting as the Browns head coach tries to decide who will be his starter and back-up for the regular season opener at home against the Bengals on September 7th.
Former McKinley Bulldog, Harold Fannin Jr. also made his rookie debut. The tight end selected in the third round of this years draft, played but did not have a catch.
Next up for the Browns, their second preseason game on Saturday, August 16 at Philadelphia at 1 PM.
