The WHBC Sports Player of the Week
Each week the 1480 WHBC sports team gathers information from all around the county to determine who that week’s WHBC High School Football Player of the Week will be. They look at great performances from the games we cover: The Pro Football Hall of Fame Radio Game of the Week, the Aultcare TV game of the Week and the WHBCsports.com Stream game of the Week. Plus they take a look at all the other games around the county for outstanding efforts on the gridiron.
The 2022 High School Football Season salutes these WHBC Sports Players of the Week:
Week #1 – Massillon Sr. RB Willtrell Hartson 30 carries 135 yds 4 TDs
Week #2 – Green Jr. WR Zach Baglia 13 catches 277 yds 4tds
Week #3 – Canton South RB Zion Culver Rushing: 17-107 yards, 6 td’s
Week #4 – Fairless QB Carson Colucci Passing: 22-29-0, 273 yds, 2 td’s Rushing: 8-19 yds, 2 td’s
Week #5 – Massillon So QB Jalen Slaughter Passing: 17-30-0, 291 yds, 3 td’s Touchdowns of 70, 32, 24 (game winner w/ 0:11 sec left)
Week #6 – Massillon Sr RB Willtrell Hartson Rushing: 40-274-4 td’s
AND Perry Sr RB D’Andre Church Rushing: 29-259-5 td’s
Week #7 – Canton South QB Poochie Snyder Passing: 17-25-1, 311 yds, 1 td Rushing 7-72 yds, 3 td’s
Week #8 – West Branch Sr QB Dru DeShields Passing: 17-34-1, 275 yds, 3 td’s Rushing: 18-55 yds, 2 td’s
Week #9 – McKinley Sr WR Cyncier McNeal Recieving: 4 rec for 191 yards, and 2 touchdowns. He had catches of 81 and 46 yards.
Week #10 – Central Catholic RB Alex Anderson Rushing: 13-232 yds, 5 td’s, avg. 17.8 p/carry all in 1 half of play

Fairless WR Brody Pumneo Rushing: 3-82, 1 td Receiving: 5-75, 1 td Halfback pass: 1-23, 1 td
Week #2
Lake Defense (Lake): W 13-7 vs. St. Francis DeSales Defense gave up 1td, and force 5 fumbles that were recovered by the D.
