Media reports from Scott Petrak of BrownsZone.com, Daryl Ruiter from 92.3 The Fan and Ian Rapport from the NFL Network say Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson had more than just a setback in his recovery from Achilles tendon surgery.

The local Browns beat reporters and national NFL writer are reporting that Watson suffered a re-rupture of his surgically repaired right Achilles tendon during rehab.

Watson had his second surgery yesterday, Thursday, January 9th to repair the re-tear and now could miss the entire 2025 season.

Watson originally tore his right Achilles tendon in a 21-14 home loss against the Bengals on October 20, 2024.

Watson played in just 7 games in 2024, going (1-6) as a starter throwing for only 1,148 yards, with 5 touchdown passes, 3 interceptions and he was sacked 33 times.

In 3 seasons with the Browns after being acquired in a trade with the Houston Texans, Watson has played in just 19 of a possible 51 games and his record in those 19 starts is (9-10).

Watson has 2 years left on a guaranteed 5 year contract that will play him $230 million dollars.
