Football is Back : In the Booth With Bels
Welcome to our 79 th Year as THE Voice of High School Football…1480
WHBC!!
Game 1…Thursday Night… has a flock of Cardinals and a flock of Falcons going to battle at Brideweser Stadium in Navarre as Fairless will host Sandy Valley.
The Falcons have high expectations for this season… QB Carson Colucci is one of the best in the county…a couple of excellent receivers with Andy Gill and Gio Moore and RB Peter Killy is coming off a solid sophmore season. Throw in very good offensive line and the season looks bright for the Falcons. Oh yea…Just FYI…Coach AJ Sarbaugh is one win away to become the All Time winningest coach is Fairless History.
The Cardinals fly into town with intentions of preventing a record setting win. Sandy Valley returns 9 starters on Offense. A wealth of experience for a strong 2023 campaign. Excellent RB in Chad Davis…15 TD’s last year and QB Nick Petro who missed 4 games last year and still threw for 1,000+ with 8 scores and 0 picks. The focus for Coach Gamble this year….DEFENSE. Last year…in their 6 losses…the Cardinals gave up an average of 44 points per game. Look for marked improvement with 7 starters returning on defense.
FRIDAY NIGHT….maybe one of the best match ups in the county….ALLIANCE vs LAKE. This rivalry the past two seasons has not been kind to the Aviators losing by a total of 76 – 21. However. This season Alliance is tagged as the top team in the EBC…with dynamic QB Brendan Zurbrugg…excellent receivers such s Rhamir Hawkins and
K’Vaughn Davis and 4 out of 5 starters return on the offensive line. Concern…the secondary….the need to replace all 4 starters from last year.
The Lake Blue Streaks are thick with talent coming off a 12 – 2 season that included a trip to the Regional Finals and return 7 three Year Starters. Charlie Christopher and Evan Brady will solidify a defense that yielded only 12 ppg last year. WR/CB Nate Baker is one of the best athletes in the county, and Cale Jarvis will assume the QB duties. Lake will roll out a “running back by committee” look in week 1. So Here we go!! Week 1…our 79 th Year…two outstanding broadcasts, and once again we have the privilege to give you a front row seat. From my perspective In the Booth….just a small sampling of why High School Football Lives Here!!! Kenny Roda, Mark Miller, Denny
Kinkead, and your truly look forward to seeing y’all On the Radio!!
