Togiai And Fields Honored For OSU

Following Big Ten football games on Oct. 30-31, the Co-Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week and Co-Freshmen of the Week in the Big Ten were announced this morning. Below are this week’s honorees:
Co-Offensive Players of the Week
Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland
So., QB, Ewa Beach, Hawaii/Thompson
- Became the third Big Ten player in the last 20 seasons to notch 350 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in a single game as Maryland defeated Minnesota in overtime
- Completed 26-of-35 passes for 394 yards, he 10th most single-game passing yards in school history and the most since Danny O’Brien passed for 417 yards against N.C. State in 2010
- Added 59 rushing yards, including a 39-yard touchdown in the first quarter
- Collects his first career Offensive Player of the Week award

Justin Fields, Ohio State
Jr., QB, Kennesaw, Ga./Harrison
- Threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns while completing 28-of-34 passes as Ohio State defeated Penn State
- First seven passes were all completions, giving him 16 consecutive completions over two games to tie the school record set by J.T. Barrett in 2016
- Directed the Ohio State offense to 526 total yards in the contest
- Earns his first career Offensive Player of the Week award

Defensive Player of the Week
Tommy Togiai, Ohio State
Jr., DT, Pocatello, Idaho/Highland
- Recorded a career-best three sacks at Penn State on Saturday night
- Led the team with a career-high seven tackles, including four solo stops
- Anchored a defense that held the Nittany Lions to 44 yards rushing
- Claims his first career Defensive Player of the Week honor
